Huma Qureshi has replaced Kangna Ranaut

Before, we had reported that Kangana Ranaut would be playing the female lead in Ishqiya sequel. However, now reports are that the actress has been replaced by Huma Qureshi.

If sources are too believed, “Earlier Kangs was signed for the film but there was a problem 
regarding her dates that were overlapping with the ones for Sai Kabir’s next. Kangna Ranaut could not accommodate Vishal’s film.” 

The sequel has been titled Dedh Ishqiya and will be directed by Abhishek Chaubey. He is ready with the script and the film will role out anytime soon. Dedh Ishqiya will also star Madhuri Dixit.
Adds the source, “Director Abhishek Chaubey has taken his own time to finish the script of Dedh Ishqiya. He wanted to start the film only after he was sure of the script. Now that it is ready and the cast has been locked, it is ready to roll out.”
Gossip are that Huma Qureshi’s co-actress in Gangs of Wasseypur, Richa Chadda was also a strong contender for the role. However, since Huma had already worked under Vishal Bhardwaj’s banner for Kannan Iyer’s Ek Thi Daayan, she was chosen over Richa.
The shoot starts on February 18 in Lucknow.
